HMRC has admitted that the recent introduction of the National Insurance and PAYE Service may have resulted in some employees being on the wrong tax code for 2010/11.
Employees are urged to check April payslips to ensure they are paying the correct amount of tax. It is possible that they may not have been sent the same PAYE code number as the one sent to their employer or pension provider.
Employees are warned to look out for any unexpected changes to the amount they are paid and to phone HMRC if they believe there is a problem.
